Job Search Requirements Explained

Massachusetts requires that you complete at least 3 work search activities per week starting May 6, 2025. You must record these activities when requesting weekly benefits.

These count as job search activities:

  • Submitting applications, resumes, or letters of interest through employers or employment websites like MassHire JobQuest
  • Making in-person visits with employers who may have openings
  • Attending MassHire Career Center job fairs, networking events, or workshops
  • Interviewing with potential employers (in person, phone, or online)
  • Registering with private employment agencies or placement services

Important: Keep detailed written logs of all work search activities for one year – you may be selected for audit verification.

By the way: GigHQ auto-logs all your job applications and follow-ups for you. You can export this dashboard anytime as proof — no manual logging required.
