Florida Unemployment Benefits

Eligibility
Am I Eligible?
You likely qualify if:
- You lost work through no fault of your own (layoff, reduced hours, employer closure) .
- You earned enough wages (at least $3,400 before taxes) in your “base period”, the first four complete quarters beginning 18 months prior to your claim.
- You are able and available to work and actively seek employment each week
- You can prove identity and work eligibility (SSN, ID, etc.).
Job Search Requirements Explained
Florida requires 5 work-search contacts per week if you live in a county of 75,000+ people; fewer in smaller counties. Contacts include applying online/in-person, networking, informational interviews, reviewing listings, and attending job events.
These count as job search activities:
- Applying online or in-person
- Networking, workshops, career events and attending job fairs
- Attending reemployment services
- Contacting employers directly
