Eligibility
Am I Eligible?
- You lost your job or had your hours reduced through no fault of your own — this means layoffs, business closures, or being let go without misconduct.
- You earned wages in at least two quarters of your base period and earned at least $1,134 in your two highest quarters during your base period.
- Your total base period wages equal at least 1.5 times your highest quarter earnings.
- You’re able to work, available for work, and actively looking for work every week you claim benefits.
- You’re legally authorized to work in the U.S. (age 18+), and Georgia will verify this electronically.
Georgia may reject benefits if you:
- Quit without good work-related cause or were fired for misconduct
- Refuse suitable job offers or fail to meet work search requirements
- Are receiving severance pay or workers’ compensation
- Don’t register with WorkSource Georgia employment services
- Provide false information (considered fraud with fines and criminal charges)
Job Search Requirements Explained
Georgia requires that you complete at least 3 new, verifiable job contacts per week with different employers. You must submit evidence online through MyUI Portal or by fax.
These count as job search activities:
- Applying online or in-person with employers
- Contacting employers by phone, email, or fax
- Following up on previous applications with different contact methods
- Attending job fairs and networking events
- Using WorkSource Georgia career center services
Important: After 10 weeks of benefits, you must accept work paying at least 66% of your average hourly wage from your highest quarter (but at least minimum wage).
By the way: GigHQ auto-logs all your job applications and follow-ups for you. You can export this dashboard anytime as proof — no manual logging required.
